The Cell-O-Core Story
The Cell-O-Core Company of Sharon Center, Ohio has been manufacturing flexible sticks, beverage stirrers and cocktail straws for use around the world for over half a century. The story of its growth and present-day success is a story of a proud and caring family, a family that has seen business triple in recent years by following the precepts of its compassionate founder, the late Harry E. Davis. The story began in the mid 1930's when Mr. Davis, then 40, was saddened to hear that a local child had punctured the roof of his mouth with a wooden lollipop stick.
With this in mind, he began to think of ways to manufacture sticks that would be "ChildSafe". Drawing upon his earlier years working with the tire and rubber industry, he soon invented and patented the first soft lollipop stick.It was made of a rubber-coated paper then, of twisted cellophane strips - a development that later prompted the Cell-O-Core name.
"Today, Cell-O-Core operates as a highly focused, well-managed corporation," says David Nelson, "while continuing to treat customers and employees like family. Our long term clients still find here the service and quality they always had when "Pop" was here".
Cell-O-Core stands by its work and the commitment to the integrity that "Pop" made famous. As David put it" "That's what my grandfather taught us to do, and that's what we're doing every day!"
